Lamborghinis – Countach, Diablo and moreRelative to other industry giants, Lamborghini is young. The company began in 1948 manufacturing tractors, which were in high demand in Italy after the war. After burning out on tractors, and being refused a license to build helicopters, Ferruccio Lamborghini decided to focus his energy on cars. The first model, 350 GT, was available to the public in 1964. With only 120 made, Lamborghini set a trend in producing small quantities of high-quality sports cars. Even the popularity of the Countach in 1978 warranted only 235 units, creating even more desire for the exotic collector. While the Jalpa 350 GTS took over in the eighties as the Lamborghini of choice, the 25th Anniversary Countach and late nineties Diablo Roadster remain the highest in production. Their limited quantity only furthers the interest of collectors, making Lamborghini one of the most intriguing manufacturers in the world.
