History

T. Hamann in his 1955 Jaguar D-Type at Mille Miglia Born and raised in Germany, Mr. Hamann developed his passion for cars in a very early stage. He has been racing cars since the early 80s and still regularly attends races and touring events around the globe.

Mr. Hamann’s business experience began in Germany as the youngest Rolls-Royce salesman in Europe at age 19, while already focusing on Italian, British, and German classic sports and race cars.

In the mid 80s, Mr. Hamann served as General Manager of the Autofarm, during which time he established strong relationships with many American classic car dealers and collectors. He soon moved to the United States, where he ran the previously Florida-based company Autoputer, and took it to a leading market position.

T. Hamann (Jaguar D-Type) & S.Moss (300SLR) in 1991 Mille Miglia In the late 80s, he co-founded the international classic-car dealership Mille Miglia with a prominent Swedish collector. The company was undoubtedly the leading classic-car dealership worldwide, with Mr. Hamann serving as Managing Director.

After later becoming General Manager of the factory-authorized Ferrari dealership in San Francisco, Mr. Hamann was offered the Rolls-Royce and Bentley franchise based in San Diego. He then joined the Symbolic Motor Car Company, leading the dealership into record-breaking direction as Managing Partner and General Manager.

T. Hamann and Mario Andretti (F1 and Indy 500 Champion) Mr. Hamann has also been the Director of Select Services at Barrett-Jackson, the world’s greatest car auction. The event was a great success, attended by participants from all across the world with a display of the rarest high quality classic cars. The international media called it "an instant classic & one of the few great events worldwide". Thomas Hamann will continue his work as founder and Chairman of the New York City Concours d'Elegance to assure the high standards of this international bi-annual event in Central Park.
